TBCE Reports: Dry Needling and Acupuncture

The TBCE reports on  acupuncture rules and regulations...

The Chiropractic Act, section 201.002, permits a D.C. to perform modalities that “are nonsurgical” and “nonincisive” that “improve the subluxation complex or the biomechanics of the human body.”

As described in an opinion authored by the Office of the Attorney General, which was recently affirmed by a Texas district court, acupuncture is a modality that is appropriate to use.

TBCE: August 20, 2015 General Report

Through July 2015, the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners (TBCE) has issued 277 new DC licenses (including 11 reinstatements), 19 new rad tech licenses, and 418 new facility registrations. 

There have been 5,531 DC license renewals (including 568 inactive renewals), 83 rad tech license renewals, and 3,444 facility registration renewals. 

As of August 7, there were 5,119 actively licensed DCs, 322 DCs with CE- conditional licenses, 602 inactive DCs, 18 probated DCs, 5 suspended DCs, and 282 expired DCs.

TBCE: August 20, 2015 Rules Proposals and Changes

The Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners met on Thursday, August 20, 2015.  Their agenda included the usual legal, administrative, and chiropractic business.  Also considered were 21 rules changes, some three-dozen enforcement committee cases.  The rules changes included the following:
