A Tool for Your Practice Toolkit: TBCE Checklist
Thursday, February 12, 2015 03:36 PM

by Yvette Yarbrough, TBCE Executive Director

As a Virgo, checklists are my best friend for the purposes of organization in both my professional and personal life. At work, I use multiple checklists on a daily basis to ensure that all of my professional responsibilities are completed.

Doctors of Chiropractic should be aware of their licensure requirements and can use this checklist to help keep them in compliance with Board rules and law. This checklist covers the topics that most frequently result in disciplinary action against doctors, it is not meant to be all-inclusive.

At the Wednesday, August 13, 2014, hearing of the Sunset Commission a vote on a “modification” resulted in a vote of seven to five – the Sunset Commission voting to remove chiropractors from the list of providers authorized to conduct pre-participation UIL Athletic physicals.  In the coming weeks I will provide you with my analysis of what was said at this hearing, but first let’s hear it “straight from the horses' mouth.”   The video from which these transcripts come was posted at THIS LINK.

Sunset Commission Vote, What it Means
Monday, August 18, 2014 04:50 PM

The vote on chiropractic exclusion from UIL Physicals on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, went against chiropractors by a vote of 7 to 5. It is disappointing that “politics as usual” carried the day, but there are a few things the TCA wants to let you know.

Foremost,  we were impressed by the number of Doctors who showed up on Wednesday. We had more than twenty Doctors in attendance.  The efforts on social media, the e-mails and calls to members, and the comments to the Sunset Commission were impressive and very helpful. We also  have had a number of you who have been attending meetings, gathering information and working on any number of tasks related to this effort and that was invaluable.  Thank you all for your efforts and persistent work!
