State Representative Mark Strama recently resigned his seat in the Texas House of Representatives in Austin to take a new job. His surprise resignation has triggered a special election to the fill the vacancy. District 50 in Travis County (Austin) is tailor-made for Dr. Mike VanDeWalle to represent.

Dr. Mike and his wife have lived in the same home for more than 30 years in the heart of the district. His professional practice, his reputation as an effective and respected Chiropractor, and his church and volunteer service connections in the district run a mile deep.

This is the best opportunity Chiropractors and other healing arts providers have had in the last two decades to include a voice for themselves and their patients!

  • Imagine a future debate in which a well-informed, articulate Doctor of Chiropractic stands at the front microphone on the House Floor, correcting misstatements and myths so often spread about healing arts professions; effectively fighting for equitable legislation.
  • Imagine how different a debate about chiropractic scope of practice would be if a doctor of chiropractic could personally and authoritatively share facts with fellow members of the legislature about our education and the key role we play in lowering the costs of health care in Texas.
  • Following our victory in the Texas Supreme Court, imagine the impact of another victory at this point in our history, and the building momentum to move the healing arts professions forward.

The association is calling for assistance in this election.  They call for those interested in helping to return a healing arts provider other than a medical physician to the Texas Legislature to:

Dr. Jon Schweitzer

Dr. Jon Schweitzer

Dr. Jon Schweitzer has announced his candidacy for Senate District 10.  Senate District 10, currently held by Senator Wendy Davis, is the southern portion of Ft. Worth and the western half of Arlington, most of Bedford, Colleyville, and a good bit of Southlake.

After serving in the military, Dr. Schweitzer  was taught the values of hard work, self-reliance and he became the first in his family to go to college.  As a boy, Dr. Schweitzer learned the importance of fiscal responsibility when his family faced financial ruin. Heavy machinery fell on Dr. Schweitzer’s stepdad and fractured his spine, confining him to a wheelchair. Unable to work, the Schweitzer family struggled to pay the bills. As a teenager, Dr. Schweitzer had to work nights to provide for his family.  Inspired to help others through the physical and financial pain, Dr. Schweitzer earned his doctorate and became a successful doctor. For the last 18 years, thousands of Tarrant County residences have put their trust in Dr. Schweitzer for their healthcare needs.

Dr. Schweitzer is renowned for his strong conservative principles, faith and family values, and results-driven approach. As a successful small business owner and trusted community doctor, Dr. Schweitzer knows the ill effects of excessive government up hard working families.
