Two National Chiropractic Associations have elect/appointed two Texas Doctors of Chiropractic to represent Texas.

Dr. James Edwards to represent Texas to the ICA and Dr. Ken Perkins the ACA for Texas East.

James D. Edwards, D.C. Appointed to Represent Texas at ICA Assembly

Recently, I was truly honored to be appointed ICA Representative Assemblyman for the GREAT STATE of Texas by ICA President Dr. Michael McLean.  In that role, I am very much looking forward to representing you at the ICA Annual Convention and Representative Assembly from June 19 to June 21 in Kansas City.

I am sure some long-time, loyal Texas ICA members may be scratching their heads and asking why a past ACA Chairman and ACA Chiropractor of Year would resign as ACA Delegate to go to work for the ICA.  Please allow me to explain based on the recent actions of the ACA and ICA.

In regard to the ACA, it is my opinion that the association has been hijacked by the pro-drug fringe (PDF) which does not support chiropractic remaining a "drug-free" profession, that denies that chiropratic is a separate and distinct health care discipline, and even denies that the subluxation exists.  For those reasons, I can no longer continue to represent an organization that wants to convert chiropractic into osteopathy!

In regard to the ICA, the organization has steadfastly remained committed to core chiropractic principles.  The latest example was when the ICA had the intestinal fortitfude to legally and successfully challenge the New Mexico Board of Chiropractic Examiners when the Board attempted to authorize prescriptive drug rights in clear violation of New Mexico law.

When those two actions are combined, it was a monumental "tipping point" for me in regard to deciding which association is on the right course and worthy of my dues dollars and efforts.

I look forward to representing my like-minded Texas ICA colleagues in Kansas City and welcome your comments and suggestions about how to best do that on your behalf at the upcoming annual meeting.

Should you know a colleague who you believe shares your support of chiropractic's core principles and who should become an ICA member, please reply to this email with their contact information and I will personally contact him/her.

Sincerely,
James D. Edwards, D.C.

Texas ICA Representative Assemblyman

Dr. Kenneth Perkins Elected to Office of ACA Delegate for Texas–East

On behalf of the American Chiropractic Association, I am pleased to inform you that Dr. Kenneth Perkins was uncontested in the election and is therefore declared the winner and is elected to the office of ACA Delegate representing the East Texas district for a two-year term ending in January, 2016.

As you may recall, an election nomination notice was sent to all East Texas members on March 24, 2014 that a new election was ordered by the ACA House of Delegates due to the nature of some of the campaign materials used in the prior election.

Dr. Perkins will be providing you in the near future with the updates on ACA activities and accomplishments to keep you well-informed about news, information and trends concerning the chiropractic profession.

Should you like to contact Dr. Perkins in the interim, he can be reached at kyroperk@juno.com

With kind regards,

James G. Potter
