The Texas Chiropractic Association is hosting a Live Tele Town Hall on Thursday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m. CT to discuss and answer questions on the upcoming appeal in the Texas Medical Association (TMA) vs. Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners (TBCE) and Texas Chiropractic Association (TCA) law suit. The biggest question looming over the case: Is Chiropractic on the Chopping Block?
February 28, 2018 could be one of the most important dates in the history of chiropractic in Texas. Both TBCE and TCA are appealing the previous decision handed down by the Travis County District Court against the chiropractic profession in 2016. On this date, the Third District Court of Texas will hear the appeal.
While this legal challenge may have been under your radar, we need to make this clear: TMA is, once again, trying to decimate the chiropractic profession. In this case, the TMA is contesting the legality of TBCE Board rules regarding the right of Texas chiropractors to diagnose and treat nerve-related conditions, including the subluxation complex.  The decision will impact EVERY chiropractor in the Lone Star State, which could have a ripple effect across the entire profession throughout the United States.
During the Town Hall, we will discuss the key issues in this case, how TCA and the chiropractic profession arrived at this point, why the Third District of Texas’ decision matters, and what is next in the legal process and for the profession. In addition to this valuable legal update, there will be a sneak preview of the 2019 Texas Legislative Session and some of the primary issues TCA plans to tackle in Austin next year.
The TCA Live Town Hall Meeting will feature Matt Wood of Weisbart Springer Hayes, LLP, TCA’s lead attorney for the case. He will be joined by TCA President Dr. Max Vige, TCA Vice President Dr. Devin Pettiet and TCA lobbyists Josh Massingill and Kaden Norton of StateCraft.
Be sure to register at http://tcalivealert.pagedemo.co for the TCA Live Tele Town Hall on Thursday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m. CT. A text message with call-in information will be provided before the town hall.
