News Bite:  The ACA is working to transform the association into a more nimble, streamlined and relevant organization.  Key components of the proposed governance concept include revamping its organizational structure and their purposes and other streamlining methods.

The ACA is working to transform the association into a more nimble, streamlined and relevant organization for generations to come.  A governance review initiative included in ACA’s dynamic strategic plan last year could soon come to fruition when the House of Delegates (HOD) considers a contemporary, revitalized leadership structure during its March meeting in Washington, D.C.

This strategic plan establishes that the ACA’s mission is “to preserve, protect, improve and promote the chiropractic profession and the services of doctors of chiropractic for the benefit of the patients they serve.  [It] exists to provide leadership in health care and a positive vision for chiropractic and its natural approach to health and wellness.”  It goes on to establish that it is a dynamic plan that will adapt to changing policies.

Key components of the proposed governance concept include revamping its organizational structure and their purposes. Decreasing the numbers serving on its governing board, having the ACA president serve as the presiding officer at its organizational meetings, making use of a nominating committee to seek the best qualified nominees, and more.
