Here is a study which suggests that when patients get chiropractic care or acupuncture they usually don’t tell their medical doctors. The family physician may be clueless to the effectiveness of chiropractic or acupuncture care

In this systematic review they took 30 studies for radiculopathy and 8 studies for spinal stenosis, and found almost no benefit for ESI’s and spinal stenosis.  It did provide immediate relief of pain but benefits were small and not sustained and it did not seem to help with preventing surgery.  Remember these procedures have increased over 600% in the last 10+ years with few benefits.

This one was done in Switzerland and found that with a first contact with either and DC or MD the patient got about the same amount of relief but with DC care had higher satisfaction rates and lower costs.
